books for kids

The title of my book was Oh, the places you'll go. The author is Dr. Seuss and there is no bio on the author. On the cover of the book there is a kid standing on a skinny mountain in a yellow onezy and a yellow beanie. The character is the reader and there are multiple settings the kid walks through. This book summarized in three sentences is that life is a journey. Don't worry about moving too fast. You'll go a lot of places.
The book doe shave animals as characters, it rhymes, it teaches a lesson of some sort,it has monsters as characters, it has kids as characters, it has adults as characters, it has humor, it has illustrations, it has color, it doesn't use actually photos, it does have sort of a lonely tone, it doesn't have many words per page, and one word or phrase is repeated. My favorite phrase of the book was, "... and when things start to happen don't worry. Don't stew. Just go right along you'll start happening too."
I think the ages for this book would be 4-10 because it's really easy to read and it has a real meaning to it.

Childhood questions

Question 12: A childhood injury i had was a broken nose, the only bone I've ever broken. It was just a normal day of me and my friend playing basketball outside his house. As we we're playing, things started to get a little competitive and we we're really going at it. Then one play where he got past me and was about to make a layup.. so i tried to go up and block him but his elbow hit me in my nose and broke it. What made me mad was he looked at me and said it wasn't broken. I proceed to look in the mirror and my nose was all the way to the left, i was mad as heck.

Question 9: One thing i wish i knew when i was a kid is that time is precious. Don't waste your time worrying about the little things and do whats best for you. And one thing i wish i know that i wish i didn't is the real world. Sometimes i wish i was a kid again where i didn't have to worry about anything and could just let my imagination take over.

Questions 7: I think the tings that make me feel most nostalgic is either old t.v shows and old music. The old t.v shows are amazing cause i remember waking up in the morning just to watch certain shows and eat cereal in my underwear. i was amazing. Also the old music i used to listen was crazy. If someone were to play it right now i probably could sing every song. Song like lolly pop by lil wayne.

Question 15: My favorite game growing up would have to be Call of duty. All of them. I remember not having a game system and my brother had one and i would always bug him to play and he wouldn't let me sometimes and i would just sit outside his door and cry.. I know, that's bad. When i finally got my own system, i would stay up all night and never get any sleep. My favorite feature on the game was the zombies feature, i loved it.

window poem

Straight ahead i see one lonely tree with many branches that appear to be neglected by the winter cold standing in front of a June yard.
To the left of me there are kids outside playing ball in the street but the goal has back board.
But today is different, today nobody is outside.
On this block, there are always people outside doing something.
I see the shadow of every branch on the walls in my in my room and the light from car headlights running
on my ceiling.

Reel life movie questions

Question 1: I think it's always good to stick to what you know but when it comes to parenting anything can happen. When he writes about it he's probably sitting down giving full thought about it and taking his time but when it comes to real life i feel like he makes rational decisions.

Question 7: Can you know in three days that you love someone? In my eyes i don't think you can fully love someone in three days. The reason being is because you haven't seen them at their best or at their worst. I think you can have or get string feelings that you've never had before though.

Question 17: My Perfect day starts with sleeping until like 9-10. After i get up, i'd take a shower and play music. After i get ready i'd probably go pick up some friends and go shopping. When i say go shopping, i'm talking about shopping for cd's, clothes, shoes, watches, and i love going to thrift stores. After i get done with all that, i'd go back home and make music.

Question 30: I'm a great bowler. I can bowl all day and all night if i wanted to.

This is

This is a picture of hands. Hands can tell you a lot about a person like their age, what they do for a living and more. These hands are beautiful. these hands have been through decades, these hands are special. This is life.

This is a place of pure beauty. Highs and lows, watch the valley as the water flows. Every color you could imagine is here. This is the grand canyon.

This is superstition. More of them than us. Might make your hair stand up. This is a black cat.

Memorable passage

“We believe that we can change the things around us in accordance with our desires—we believe it because otherwise we can see no favorable outcome. We do not think of the outcome which generally comes to pass and is also favorable: we do not succeed in changing things in accordance with our desires, but gradually our desires change. The situation that we hoped to change because it was intolerable becomes unimportant to us. We have failed to surmount the obstacle, as we were absolutely determined to do, but life has taken us round it, led us beyond it, and then if we turn round to gaze into the distance of the past, we can barely see it, so imperceptible has it become.” – Marcel Proust, In Search of Lost Time

To be honest i couldn't think of any particular book to get a passage from so i looked one up. This passage from the book, In search of lost time caught my eye because it talks about what people do all the time. The way I interpret this passage is when something gets hard, people tent to give up or make excuses. One particular line that stood out to me is,"We do not succeed in changing things in accordance with our desires, but gradually our desires change." Let's say you're trying to follow your dreams and things gets hard and not going the way you want them to go, we change our desires or "dreams" so we don't have to face some sort of failure.

"Reely" good quotes

My first quote is from a movie called fences starring Denzel Washinton. Its a morality quote that Denzel says in one of the scenes. "Death ain't nothing but a fastball on the outside corner."

My second quote is from Zootopia. This quote to me sums up life in one sentence. Nick wilde,"Everyone comes to Zootopia, thinking they could be anything they want. But you can't. You can only be what you are..."

My third quote is from Concussion starring Will smith. "Need is not weak. Need is need... You have to be the best version of yourself. If you don't know what that is you pick something and fake it"

My last quote is from Finding Dory. "The best things happen by chance."

Reel life

My favorite movie right now is Fences. The reason why i like this movie so much because there are so many lessons that are given out in this movie. The setting takes place back in the 50's about a African american father trying to raise his family while coming to terms with the events of his life. Some movies i really don't like to watch are really dumb corny movies or like movies making fun of the original one, irks my nerves. I watch movies all the time. From going to the movie theater to just sitting in my bedroom. I prefer to watch movies at home because i'm more comfortable and i don't have to worry about anybody being annoying or any little kids. When i watch a movie, I only need about 5 things. My bed, food, drink, rainy days/overcast, and peace and quite, that makes a perfect movie setting for me. What the survey said about wasn't that surprising to me. It says i'm 50% extraverted which means in their words that i enjoy the company of others but i also value my privacy which is correct. It said i'm 58% agreeable which means i'm agreeable but i can sometimes be stubborn and competitive which is also true. Its says i'm 75% conscientious which means i'm well-organized and i generally have clear goals and are able to set goals aside. it also states that i'm 67% emotionally stable which means i'm usually calm and able to deal with stress but sometimes experience feelings of guilt, anger, and sometimes sadness which is true. The last thing it says about me is that i am 92% open to new experiences and that i have broad interests and are very imaginative which is also true. Taking this survey i didn't think it was going to be this accurate but it did surprise me on some things like being emotionally stable. If my life was made into a movie, i would have to play my own roll because i don't think there is anybody out there that can play my role better than me. In this movie, there would be lots of ups and downs and a lot of things i couldn't explain but it'll all turn out good in the end.

Apartheid. A policy or system of segregation or discrimination on grounds of race. There are a lot of places and a lot of things going on in this world that we don't know about either cause we don't care cause or our news doesn't cover it. You would think that these types of things would be covered on the news when that's all that's on there is negative stuff about people dying, President Trump, or LGBT. I guess that's what everybody is worried about now a days is if someone next to you is a little different than you, who cares. This picture made me feel some type of way. This picture was taken in 1976 in South Africa when student began to protest for certain things they wanted in their school systems. This really hit me because my dad was born in 1955 and he tells me about all the thing they had to go through back in the day and i understand that but you never really know what it was really like unless you lived back there. One day i hope we can all come together and i feel like it can happen. If you look at it, everybody back in them days that we're on either side, racist or non racist are going to be gone soon and i feel like the millennials are more accepting and if we're willing, we can make a change.

Caged Bird

Wings Spread open
going wherever the wind takes me
but not too far.
usually we fly in flocks without second guessing
the mob mentality gets the best of us.
you ain't a man until you stop following ya friends
but in my case i'll never learn because i'm a bird.
With the illusion of flying where ever we want
us birds are still chained to the sky
flying by myself now but i still feel limited
Like a caged bird.

Dream Threads

I need really soft music playing when I fall asleep.
If not, my thoughts become louder than most sirens and it becomes impossible to fall asleep. Perfectly balanced is the name of the playlist that gets me through the night, filled with just the right amount of jazzy, melodic music. I don't know what i would do without music. Music is the one language that everyone speaks, it's universal. At night time, everything becomes a wonder for me, from the dogs barking in the distance, to the noise the wind makes entering my room. One night, there won't be any music to play, any melody to sing to, and that will be the night i won't get any sleep. And the night that i don't get any sleep, will the be the night of constant thinking,
It is my mind that keeps me up at night.

Question 3: Personally i don't like talking about bad dreams but it is good to talk about them. Just like any other thing that's bad, it needs to be brought up. If you had a bad dream and you never talk about it and try to forget it, its never going to go away. you can only bury demons for so long so for me id rather talk about them and get over them before they take over me. On the other hand, feeding into drama at school is a different story. If you keep feeding into drama then the flame just gets bigger and bigger and you don't want that.

Question 4: I feel like dreams tell a lot about us, even if we don't know it yet. Dreams are a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occurring in a person's mind during sleep and it could show you things that you didn't know you were thinking about like a person you meet from years ago to the feeling you got when something first happen. One dream that mad me realize that what i wanted already was what i really wanted when i was on tour and performing with J. Cole and the Dreamville crew.

Question 5: Me personally i probably could live this way but not for five years. Five years is a long time not saying anything at all. Honestly I think I talk too less majority of the time, depends on the situation. That's one lesson my I've learned throughout my life is to talk less and listen more and i feel like you could learn a lot by doing that. By doing that you can see the way people think in certain situations, and just things that have effected them and hearing it from their point of view. By speaking more you can also grow as a person because communication is key to getting anything done.

Question 9: Well to start this answer off, one of my biggest distractions is my phone and sleep. If i want to do something and i am laying down, i wont do it till like an hour later because i'm so lazy when i'm in my lazy mode but when i'm up, i'm up. A couple things that gets me focused is music, fidget cube, and just moving around basically.

Dream marks on my pillow

As the darkness is catching up to the light, I am just winding down. I ash whatever needs to be ashed then I put my computer to sleep for the night. Tossing my shirt effortlessly on to the floor, setting up the place where my body regains it's energy, it's been one of those days. Setting the fan to the speed that's one less than two, so soothing as if it was the background music to a play.

As the wind is steady kissing my face, i turn the t.v on and proceed to take my time. When its time for me to dream, i turn off the conversations the people are having on the t.v and open my blinds just enough to wear the moon can stare at me.

With me staring back it feels like were having a conversation but no words have been spoken. At this time of night, Lost thoughts usually gets the best of me when its time to dream and wondering about what my next move will probably be the death of me but I still keep the conversation going with eyes feeling like magnets.

The moon wants me to tell him more about whats on my mind but the positive and negative have already meet, i'm almost there. As the last few lost thoughts exit my conscious, i'm asleep now. Not knowing what it's gonna be about but it's time to dream now.

Goodnight.

If I we're in charge of the world

If i were in charge of the world i'd cancel public school and have programs that kids could choose what they want to learn about and also reality t.v shows.

If I we're is charge of the world there'd be more abstract buildings and more art museum.

If I we're in charge of the world you wouldn't have to wait at stoplights. You wouldn't have fast food, You wouldn't to pay for gas, and you wouldn't have to pay rent.

If i we're in charge of the world, a piece of cake would be a vegetable. All people would have love for each other and a person who sometimes forgot to think and sometimes forgot to go to school would still be allowed to be in charge of the world.

salty dog

Sailing in the ocean like Dory
All the passengers on the cruise were having a blast
Looking across the ocean at
The endless horizon
Yet to see the sun move

Don't consider the feelings of one that's different than you

Old and feeling left out
Gone but never fogotten

Yellow & Mellow

Offspring of parents
whom said I was different
yellow & mellow.

Acrostics

Silence can drive the weak mind crazy
Enough to where you're
Anxious

Strong minded
People can
re-evaluate
Any situation to make the best out of it like
Yours truly

Honeyed Mint

Leaf's adolescents
sweet but it's hard to remove
mixed together, yum

Old, dusty, and warn
down to it's last paragraph
it's words will live forever

Skyscrapers

Authors note: This piece of writing was inspired by a song i wrote a while back called Skyscrapers
Tall, beautiful, and sometimes breathtaking, but in this piece of writing skyscrapers are my object/metaphor.
As human beings living in the age of information, we can see/get anything with just one click of a button and it’s a curse and a blessing in my eyes.
One thing I've noticed in life is that people are always wondering what other people have or what other people are doing or thinking and it’s annoying as hell. If you’re an average student in high school or college, you have some sort of social media and this is what causes these types of things. Skyscrapers. These are what i call people that you see on these websites living the dream life that you think everybody would love to live, for  example, artist, movie stars, or just people that are internet famous. As you see these people on commercials, magazines, or even in person they seem to have it all but things are almost always never what they seem. I know from experience on what this type of mentality can do to a person, me being an offspring from it. “Only worry about the things that you are in control of,” is a quote that really has stuck with me throughout my life because when you live worrying about all these situations that you’re going through that you have no control over, you are going to drive yourself crazy. Sometimes you have to let the universe take control and have faith. I read this book called “The Secret” and it about the laws of attraction and it talks about the laws of the universe. It states that like attracts like so if all you do is think negative then all you are going to attract in your life is negative energy and you don’t want that. It also goes way deeper than that but i’h going to save that for another day. Skyscrapers can be very deceiving and can lead you in the wrong direction if you let it. I guess the moral of this story is stop selling yourself short, if you want something, go and get it and stop worrying about the norm or what other people think about you and just do you.

 “I Am”
I am a product of my environment.
Trying hard to please someone who asks for something without saying please.
These are the type of things that make me steer clear from who i am.
But who am I?
A mixed kid mixed in a world where you're either this or that
Are you white or are you black? Please mark a box.
Perception is key and if you forget everything you've learned
You will see that it's much deeper than that.
I am aware of the world and its side effects, if you lack education then you're more likely to have defects.
I am still a kid at heart but if you rewind my timeline
There were some things i could never detect.
Like why were c-o-p-s watching us…
Man thats some Bs, i'm just talking but at that age i seen my brothers get
5, 10, and 27 and they left me with 1.
Years go by, adolescents was getting the best of me,
Walking in footsteps that somebody else created,
Tired of feeling alone, tired of feeling jaded.
Tired of getting faded just to balance out the lows
Just a kid trying to figure out what lord only knows.
But what the world doesn't know is that i am a dreamer
Don't have to worry about the other side
Because i know my grass is greener.
   Who am I?

I Am Me
