My artist's full name is Maurtis Conrnelis Escher. Maurtis was born June 17, 1898 and died March 27, 1972. His home town is Leeuwarden, Netherlands. His father name is George Arnald and he was a civil war engineer. His mothers name was Sara Gleichman and it didn't really say what she did but i'm guess she was a stay at home mom. Maurits want to the Harlem school of Architecture and decorative arts. He only had one wife and her name was Jetta Umiker. The artist worked mostly with the mediums of graphic artist, wood engravings, and drawing sketches. This artist is associated with the following movement or period in art which was modern art. This artist's most famous works include these threes:
1.Relativity, 2. Waterfall, and 3. Drawing hands.
Two pieces by this artist i like and might be able to write about is "Another world, other world" and "The Bridge."
Five world/historical events during Maurits were WWII (1939), the Spanish American war (1898), the southern states pass laws to disenfranchise blacks (1899), The Wright bros first flight (1903), and Mckinley was assassinated (1901).
Three challenges or struggles Maurits went through was that he had bad grades through out school and he didn't even pass the second grade, and the last thing was he had to relocate because of the war at that time.

  1. Escher is one of my husband's favorites...he had two of his pieces framed on his wall when we first started dating. I later learned they were gifts from his previous longtime girlfriend. But that's okay. : )
